What to do once you have an idea

Find current funding lines for 2 relevant institutional centers (ICs) for R01, R21, and F awards on NIH Reporter, Find 1 RFA relevant to your field of study and research line. Print, read, and generate a list of questions you have about the stated requirements.
3 31-Jan Assembling an interdiscplinary team

What does it mean to be an expert?

Dissecting complete contents of a successful grant proposal

Differences between NIH mechanisms

Complete a public list of all published work (ORCID and NCBI). Write an NIH biosketch (or update your current one for a new project).
4 7-Feb Budget and Justification Develop a $50,000 budget and justification for a grant proposal involving a behavioral intervention using the template provided.
5 14-Feb Specific Aims Submit a 2-3 sentence Project Narrative for class critique.

  • Revised Specific Aims page will be due at meeting with DrM
  • Continue working on PHS attachment (due March 28th)
  • Begin working on 6-pg Research Strategy (due May 2nd)

10 21-Mar Spring Break – No Class
11 28-Mar Receipt of a fundable score and/or funding, clinical trials registration, translational lag, data sharing and publication Develop a data sharing plan.
12 4-Apr NIH Loan Repayment Program Develop a 2-pg career development plan due on April 11th (submit in my mailbox)
13 11-Apr Class will not formally meet. Dedicated time provided to work on presentations
